The CEETEL Project - first concepts The aim is to make it possible to find an email address for an individual as simple as it is to find their telephone number. This is based on the ability for any individual to have a unique email address, based on their verified unique phone number. The original concept (this work was done in 1998) was for the phone number to be the "name" part of the email address and for the country identifier to be determined by the domain address - for example, my home number in France of 0467112865 would have the email address of 0467112865@23333.com - the identifier is the last two numbers of the domain name, 33, if I were in the UK the domain would be 23344.com etc. This is not very "elegent" as the domain name is not memorable, so I was looking for a leading domain email "brand" to develop this with - in 1998 there were no leaders - however in 2006... ========== Development of this concept Since 1999, the positioning and growth of email services such as Gmail suggest the Ceetel concept could be very efficiently developed as a service to an existing established online community such as - gmail, skype, yahoo, msn, paypal, ebay, live - The country identifier becomes part of the "name" - such as... 0467112865fr@gmail.com or 33.467112865@skype.com An alternative would be to "extend" the domain to define a country, such as 0467112865@33.gmail.com Again, this is unique to a person or family and as secure as an individual phone number Many added value services with 3G, sms, etc can be added by a service like Gmail or Skype. ========== I have put some of the original website back online at http://2337.com/ceetel/ All URLs were registered under the 233 banner (CEE) on a cell phone). Lack of investment made it impossible to develop the marketing for this concept before the the hundreds of domains registered expired (at the time at $35 each for one year). Safeguards, filters and privacy controls can be applied by the servers of the domain. Full forwarding services and other benefits can be given. Verification of the phone number is done to ensure that only the registered phone holder can have the email for that number - this gives full security and confidence - no spam can ever be sent using that number as it is immediately traceable - as hosting for the URLs are secure the domain will be secure. With this system, finding the email for any registered person is as simple as finding their phone number - if they do not wish to be registered, their privacy is as straightforward and secure, as any non-listed phone number. As the email address is transparent and traceable, as it is any phone call, abusive, illegal or annoying emails will be as traceable as a phone call and this will eliminate nuisance and enhance credibility of all registered users. ========== You can write to me now at - mailto:33.467112865@2337.com - only I can ever have this address, it is simple for me to do this as I own the domain and control the server - but if you want your own personal email with your phone number it only needs a simple verification of the name address and phone number , which will be automated, and this can only ever be allocated to you. Of the hundreds of "233" domain numbers I registered, I have only kept the 2337.com domain registered, I like it because it spells "beer" on a mobile phone. If you use another email address, then the secure numerical address can be set to forward mail to any adress you wish - the advantage is that only approved mail will be forwarded and you can be found, if you wish, as simply as looking up your phone number. ========== Proposals We can either proceed by licensing this to an established email service, some of which are listed above - or we can set up a strong server to offer a new email service with all the advantages of accessibility, security and simplicity. This is a true viral concept and a big community service - I have a lot of "copyright" material in this - some points are patentable, with our input and agreement Either way I need help. This is a perfect "viral" marketing project as subscribers will attract all their own contacts and every email sent out will present the service to users. Simply using my newsletter, if half the readers sent out two emails using this system and a tenth of their recipients referred this on to their own network, in just three "links", from just this mailing list, over 15 million people would have been approached.
